Hydrocotyle vulgaris (Marginal Aquatic)
A pretty British native aquatic perennial for shallow water or boggy ground, forming creeping mats of shiny, round leaves with scalloped edges that look like mini waterlily pads. Hydrocotyle vulgaris is great for underplanting taller plants, creeping along pond margins to cover the exposed edges of a pond liner or floating on the surface of water. Beyond its ornamental appeal, Hydrocotyle vulgaris plays a useful role in maintaining a healthy aquatic environment. Its foliage releases oxygen during daylight hours, improving water quality and supporting fish and beneficial pond life. Additionally, it competes with algae for nutrients, helping to keep the water clear. Height 10cm (4in). Water Depth 0-10 cm (0-4in).
