Blueberry ‘Osorno’

This vigorous, early to mid-season variety boasts bumper crops of fruits in July making it a popular choice for commercial growers. Blueberry ?Osorno? produces medium-sized, firm, light blue fruits with a great flavour and only a small picking scar. A semi-upright plant with several canes that keep the fruit exposed for easy harvesting. Shows excellent heat tolerance but is not as winter-hardy as ‘Draper’, making it a good choice for warmer parts of the UK. Blueberries are full of nutrients with health-protective benefits and are great for adding to pies and muffins or turning into jams. A profusion of sweetly fragranced cream-white blooms create an attractive display in April and May and in autumn the leaves turn a fiery shade of crimson to provide another season of interest. Blueberry ?Osorno? is a robust shrub that, as well as providing a mass of fruits, makes a wonderful feature in acidic borders and large patio pots filled with ericaceous compost. A self-fertile variety but for increased pollination and higher yields of fruits, grow with another blueberry. Height: 1.8m (6ft). Spread 1.5m (5ft). Estimated time to best yields: 28-32 months (16-20 months for 3l potted plant).
