Camellia japonica ‘Volunteer’ is a very showy, large-flowered, double camellia with two-tone pink and white flowers that shift in colour intensity as they age. Plump buds open in mid to late winter revealing soft pink flowers frosted with white petal edges. As the flowers mature, the colour intensifies into a deeper rose-pink contrasting even more strongly with the white margins. Dark, glossy foliage cloaks this upright, evergreen shrub making a handsome specimen plant that provides year-round colour and interest. A superb choice for acid borders or patio containers.
