Clematis ‘Kimiko’

Clematis ‘Kimiko’ is a compact, evergreen climbing plant from the Boulevard® Series, created by Raymond Evison. This cultivar is highly valued for its abundant star-shaped white flowers, making it an excellent choice for small gardens or container arrangements. Its growth habit features bushy, twining stems that enhance its ornamental appeal. The foliage consists of glossy, leathery dark green leaves that remain vibrant throughout the year. The flowers, measuring approximately 8 cm (3 in) across, showcase 4 to 7 tepals and striking dark yellow stamens. Blooming occurs from early to mid-spring, with the possibility of additional flowers appearing in late summer to autumn. The lightly scented blooms not only provide seasonal interest but also attract pollinators like bees.Clematis ‘Kimiko’ thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers a sheltered location. It adapts well to various soil types, including chalk, clay, loam, or sand, as long as the soil is moist yet well-drained. Regular watering is essential, particularly during dry spells, while care should be taken to prevent waterlogging. Hardy in the UK, this plant can withstand temperatures down to -10°C, making it suitable for trellises, fences, and patios, where it can reach a height of 200 cm (79 in) and a spread of 150 cm (59 in). Pruning should be done in early spring to promote vigorous growth and abundant flowering.
