Hesperantha coccinea ‘Pink Princess’

Hesperantha coccinea ‘Pink Princess’ is a subtle variety bearing spikes of large, cup-shaped flowers in the palest pink above clumps of flat, grassy foliage. It is brilliant for extending flowering interest well beyond its normal limits, as blooming starts in September and continues through to the first frosts – even persisting through to December in mild locations such as coastal gardens. Despite its exotic appearance, this South African perennial is perfectly hardy. It enjoys a reliably moist site through summer and can even be planted in pond margins or a sunny bog garden. The flowers are especially attractive to autumn-flying butterflies. It makes a lovely cut flower at a time when blooms are scarce in the garden. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Height: 60cm (24in) Spread: 30cm (12in).
