Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Générale Vicomtesse de Vibraye’

An extravagant mophead type with large pillowy heads of dense florets that exhibit a good clear colour. The flowers appear vivid rose-pink in more neutral to alkaline soils or a pale delft blue in acidic soils. Flowering from July to October, Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Générale Vicomtesse de Vibraye’ paints swathes of colour through shady borders with rich green leaves providing a perfect backdrop to the blooms. The dried flowerheads continue to have a presence through winter and look magical when touched by frost. If you can bear to cut the flowers they make extravagant vase displays.
