Lespedeza thunbergii

Lespedeza thunbergii, commonly known as the Thunberg Bush Clover, is a robust, deciduous shrub from the legume family. It features long, arching annual stems adorned with trifoliate leaves in a soft blue-green hue. In early autumn, the plant is covered with a profusion of rose-purple, pea-like flowers, creating a striking visual display. This shrub thrives best when planted against a wall or fence in full sun. A deserving recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it reaches a height of 1.5 meters (5 feet) and a spread of 2.5 meters (8 feet). As plant size can vary seasonally, we offer it by pot size rather than specific dimensions; the plant’s height and spread will differ depending on the time of year, so the images provided serve as a general guide.
