Potentilla palustris (Marginal Aquatic)
A pretty British native thriving in moist environments, making it an ideal choice for pond margins, bog gardens, and other wetland areas. In early summer to mid-summer, deep red, starry flowers with prominent red sepals are carried on long stems above low clumps of attractive lobed leaves. Our only native cinquefoil with red flowers, Potentilla palustris is not only visually appealing but also serves as a valuable nectar source for bees, hoverflies, and other pollinators. Allow it to drift naturally along pond edges where its toothed foliage provides a nice textural contrast with upright grasses and sedges. Water depth: 0-10cm. Ultimate height: 20cm to 40cm (8 to 16in).
