Primula florindae (Marginal Aquatic)

The largest of all cowslips, Primula florindae makes an impressive display for permanently damp soils or in the surroundings of a pond. From July to August, it produces tall, upright stems adorned with umbels of up to 80 nodding, bell-shaped, sulphur-yellow flowers. The flowers exude a delightful nutmeg fragrance, making a lovely addition to sensory gardens. Basal rosettes of large, ovate green leaves growing up to 45cm long make handsome ground cover. If not deadheaded, plants will self seed and spread to form natural colonies. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Ultimate height & spread : 1m (3.2ft).
