Primula rosea (Marginal Aquatic)
This very pretty primula makes a dainty display along the edges of a pond or stream or drifting through the dappled shade of a permanently moist border.Primula rosea is valued for its early spring display of vivid rose-pink, yellow-eyed flowers that grace the garden before the emergence of its red-tinged foliage. Enjoying reliably boggy soils but not submerged in water, Primula rosea is most effective planted in groups, its low rosettes of foliage nestling alongside other moisture loving perennials such as ferns. A lovely plant for bringing cheerful bursts of colour to the spring garden. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Ultimate height and spread: 20cm (8in).
