Trachelospermum asiaticum ‘Chilli & Vanilla’ is an unusual variety of star jasmine that offers highly fragrant starry flowers, evergreen foliage and attractive seed pods. Small, dark, glossy green foliage creates a dense covering that can be trained onto any vertical surface, forming a backdrop to starry, creamy-yellow flowers with artfully twirling petals. Blooming throughout summer, the flowers have an intensely sweet perfume, their fragrance wafting through open windows into the house. The flowers are followed by long seed pods that turn red as they mature, resembling chilli peppers! This versatile climbing shrub not only makes a superb choice for covering walls, fences and arbours, but can even be grown as groundcover or low hedging.
