Truffle Tree – Hazel Kentish Cob

Truffles are a type of underground mushroom that grows on the roots of specific tree species. The summer truffle (Tuber aestivum syn. uncinatum) is very comparable to the winter truffle but has a fairly mild flavour. It is much more at home in cooler climates and has been reported in as far north as Scotland in the UK! Professional chefs and aficionados prize them for their magnificent, intense flavour, which can be used to add a delightful twist to anything from pasta and seafood to scrambled eggs. The young hazel trees we’re supplying are native to the UK and have had their roots inoculated with native truffle fungi. You can easily plant your tree, and you’ll be harvesting your first truffle crop in 4?7 years! Furthermore, your hazel will produce truffles for up to 25 years! It is supplied as a one-year-old tree that stands 40-60cm tall and comes with full planting instructions. Trees will eventually grow to a height of about 6m (20′), but pruning can keep them much smaller. It is not suitable for growing in a container.
