Hypericum elodes (Marginal Aquatic)
Hypericum elodes, known as marsh St John’s wort, is a native moisture-loving perennial ideal for bog gardens and pond edges. Its softly hairy, grey-green foliage forms a low, creeping mat, topped in late spring and early summer with saucer-shaped, bright yellow blooms. Thriving in damp, acidic soils or very shallow water up to 2cm deep, its evergreen foliage is useful for softening the edges of ponds while providing a valuable habitat for pond creatures as well as attracting pollinators. Height: 30cm (12in). Ultimate spread: 1m (3.2ft).
