Scirpus isolepis (Oxygenating Aquatic)

Scirpus isolepis is an evergreen sedge that forms graceful, fountain-like clumps of slender, thread-like foliage. In mid to late summer, each leaf blade is topped with tiny, silvery-white flower heads, creating a shimmering effect reminiscent of fibre-optic lights. The flowers are followed by small brown seedheads. This low growing plant is perfect for growing in the shallow margins of ponds, dotted around the edges or in bog gardens. Beyond its visual appeal, Scirpus isolepis offers ecological benefits. Its dense foliage provides shelter for aquatic wildlife and filters out excess nitrates, contributing to a balanced ecosystem. Water depth: 0 to 10cm (4in). Ultimate height: 20cm (8in) Ultimate spread: 60cm (24in).
