Achillea ptarmica (Marginal Aquatic)
This pretty UK native is perfect for boosting the wildlife value of your pond as its flowers are highly attractive to pollinators, especially hoverflies. Unlike other Achilleas which favour well-drained soils, Achillea ptarmica thrives in damp meadows and stream banks, so it makes a good choice for a bog garden beside the pond. From June to August, it is smothered in airy clusters of white, button-like flower heads hovering above fine, ferny foliage. Height: 60cm (24in). Spread: 35cm (14in).
