Clematis alpina ‘Imke’
In April and May, Clematis alpina ‘Imke’ is smothered in double, bell-shaped, nodding pink flowers creating an achingly pretty display. This deciduous climber produces its main flush in spring, but will often produce a second flush on the current season’s growth in early summer. The flowers are followed by attractive fluffy seed heads that add interest through late summer and autumn. This group 1 clematis requires no routine pruning, so its perfect for beginners and busy gardeners. It can be easily maintained in a large container and trained up an obelisk, or grow it in borders climbing over trellis, walls or pergolas. Pruning group: 1. Ultimate height: 2 to 2.5m (6.5ft -8.2ft). Ultimate spread: 1m (3.2ft) to 1.5m (3.2ft-4.9ft).
