Peony Best Selling Collection
Peony Best Selling Collection contains three classic peonies – quintessential features of the cottage garden but also reliable, hardy perennials that perfectly suit more formal settings. In early summer, plump buds unravel layer after layer of ruffled petals in subtle pink shades. Bury your nose in these huge, luxurious blooms and you’ll also enjoy a delicate but distinctive perfume. Despite their flamboyant looks, these peonies are hardy, resilient and long-lived, getting bigger year after year to create a showstopping performance in May/June. With lightly fragrant blooms and a long vase life, it’s hard to resist snipping a few to show off in the home too! Height and spread: 75-90cm (29-35in). Peony Best Selling Collection contains the following varieties: Peony ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ – Ruffled, flamingo-pink, double blooms that open from large, rounded buds. This RHS AGM variety has been popular since its introduction in 1905 and still beguiles gardeners with its sheer flower power. With a slightly taller habit than most, this beauty is one for planting towards the back of perennial borders, where its glamorous blooms will rise above a clump of deeply divided, dark green foliage. Peony ‘Edens Perfume’ – Said to be the most fragrant peony ever! Large pink blooms with a powerful scent of roses and layer upon layer of sublime, shell pink petals. Peony ‘Bowl of Beauty’ – has massive blooms, up to 20cm across, with a gorgeous fragrance. Large, rounded, pink petals form a huge bowl in the centre of which is creamy ruff of smaller, ribbon-like petals. These giant anemone-like blooms are held on robust stems, making them excellent for cutting and wind and rain resistant. Culinary note: The petals can be added to salads, or cooked slightly and sweetened for a treat. Peony water was also once considered a delicacy and the blooms can be floated in punches.
