Polygonum bistorta (Marginal Aquatic)
A long flowering, bullet-proof perennial that continuously throws up masses of bottlebrush-like spikes of soft pink flowers from late spring through to early autumn. The flowers are accompanied by clumps of ovate, mid-green leaves that serve as excellent ground cover.Ideal for moist meadows, waterside plantings or cottage gardens, Polygonum bistorta will tolerate most soils except the very driest ones. This low maintenance, hard-working perennial suits naturalistic schemes, offering swathes of pretty flowers over a long season plus ecological value – its blooms providing non-stop food for bees and butterflies.
