Crab Apple ‘Golden Hornet’
Crab Apple ‘Golden Hornet’ is an attractive and effective specimen tree with a long season of interest for smaller gardens. Crab apples are self-fertile and make excellent pollinators when planted near orchard apple trees. Crab apple fruits can be harvested and turned into delectable crab apple jelly. Unpicked fruits will soften after a few frosts, providing a delectable food source for wild birds. In April and May, pink buds open to reveal pretty white cup-shaped blossoms. This is followed by spectacular crops of bright golden-yellow fruits that make an attractive autumn display. They will remain on the tree well into winter.
